Picking overfill strategies apply when the maximum weight is exceeded for the supplied number of containers. The maximum weight for a certain Container Type is the gross weight of the container itself and its content combined.
Currently, we support three different strategies to deal with the overfill:
Warning - default strategy for both Android and Windows Fieldapp applications. When the overfill is detected - a "Containers overfilled" warning is issued through the normal warning channel for the farm administration to see. Workers are not penalised by default. It is up to you to decide how to handle the situation. This strategy relies on the supervisor manually checking the container count before confirming the weigh-in.
Prevention - this strategy prevents the weigh-in from being accepted when the overfill is detected. The supervisor is notified that the overfill has occurred via sound effects and the red flashing message on the screen of the device. They have to deal with it before proceeding to the next weigh-in. This strategy is good for "sanity checks". Overfill is likely to be detected if not all of the containers were scanned or the scales are playing up. If containers are overfilled supervisor might tell the worker to relocate their fruit into one or more additional containers and issue warnings. Overfilled weigh-in can not be confirmed using this strategy.
Capping - when the overfill happens this strategy removes any kilos over the maximum value for the provided number of containers. Additionally, it issues a "Containers capped" warning through the normal warning channel. For example, if the maximum gross weight of one container is 3kg and 10 containers are scanned - the maximum weight of the stack would be 30kg. If the reading from the scales is 35kg, only 30 are accepted, the remaining 5 are discarded on confirm and the warning is issued. When using this strategy it is crucial for the supervisor to make sure all of the containers were scanned. Initial weight of the stack can not be recovered at this point. Use with caution.
